Jared Allen Shaves Mullet for Wedding

Jared Allen's trademark mullet is no more ... at least for now.
The Minnesota Vikings' star defensive end, known as much for his hairstyle as well as his ability to get to the opposing team's quarterback, lost his mullet as he gets ready for his upcoming wedding.
"The things men do for love," Allen told Vikings.com.
Allen, who often says his mullet is a "lifestyle," has capitalized on the popularity of his hairdo, selling "Mullet Militia" T-shirts and including a "mullet generator" on his iPhone app, where users can try out the "lifestyle" for themselves.
In a 2009 interview, Allen explained his love and respect for his mullet.
"The mullet isn't just a hairdo. It's definitely a lifestyle. You're carrying on a legacy," he said "If I approach you from the front, it's like, wow, that dude is pretty serious. Then I walk away and you're like, damn, he likes to party. With two Rs."
However, Allen hinted on this Twitter page Wednesday that "The Mullet" might reappear at some point.
"The mullet was trimmed for the wedding but the Moolay is more than just some hair, its a lifestyle! You gotta keep a positive Mullitude..."

Today’s touchy topic: Is it okay to get married on September 11th? A close friend recently came to me with this question. My first instinct was YIKES. Then I took some time to really consider the issue. It’s definitely a somber day, especially here in New York. But does that mean we have to mark it each year by being sad? My friend ultimately decided to go ahead and book it, and I fully support her decision. NEW YORK (CNN) -- Asa Hill was 7 years old when he died. Although the boy was pulled out of a burning car alive in a horrific accident on the Niagara Thruway on Thursday, his injuries proved critical, and he passed away the following night.

The Buffalo, New York, community, shaken, turned out in large numbers at his funeral Monday to support his parents, Amilcar Hill and Rahwa Ghirmatzion, and were pleasantly surprised when the couple ended the service with a wedding ceremony, a fulfillment of their son's wish.
The Rev. Joel Miller of The Unitarian Universalist Church of Elmwood, where the service was held, was unsure at first when the idea of a wedding was proposed by the couple and their family.
"I asked twice, 'We're doing a wedding?' This was new for me. I never did a funeral service and a wedding ceremony at the same time, and normally wouldn't, but they have known each other since they were teens," Miller said. "And they had been providing for Asa, and they made a home together for all of Asa's life. ... It was clear they were following through on something they had been talking about for some time."

If you were somehow aboard the Maid of the Mist on the Niagara Falls last week and spotted a couple with the guy making funny faces to a camera, congratulations, you just stepped into the filming of the highly anticipated Pam-Jim wedding on The Office. San Antonio Spurs forward Richard Jefferson has given ex-fiancee Kesha Ni'Cole Nichols a six-figure settlement to help her move on after his last minute wedding cancellation, the New York Post reports.
Jefferson ended his five-year relationship with Nichols shortly after a tense Fourth of July weekend by sending her an e-mail reportedly about two hours before the wedding.
Jefferson said he chose to break up with her via e-mail because "sometimes you might write an e-mail to get your thoughts down right."
On Wednesday the Post reported that the cancellation was not in time to prevent guests from showing up, and Jefferson gave friends his American Express card to use for an evening of entertainment.

Man Arrested for Stealing From Guests

At a ceremony at The Forest Country Club in south Fort Myers on Saturday, a Cape Coral man allegedly stole about $3,500 in guest merchandise before he was caught.
Alessandro Tumminello, 18, was arrested and charged with larceny theft and violating his probation, according to a sheriff's deputy report. He was arrested in October for possession of marijuana and loitering. The probation violation stems from an August reckless driving conviction.
Daniels talked with wedding guests, who reported several items stolen from a storage area, including a $1,500 laptop with a black laptop bag, an $800 digital camera, $500 Chanel sunglasses, cell phones and other things.
Several guests identified Tumminello as leaving the wedding carrying a black laptop bag. Daniels then found a black bag in the bushes of the parking lot about 10 yards from the vehicle in which Tumminello arrived.

The Daily Mail brings the story of an extravagant teenage wedding. It was held at St. Mary`s Church in Congleton. Young Missy just turned 16 six days before the wedding, while the groom, Thomas, is 17 years old.
- I was surprised they wanted to get married so young in this day and age. But we could see they were madly in love – said Missy`s mother (pictured here in the white and green dress), who also married at 16.
The wedding was paid for by her father, and the bash set him back 100,000 pounds ($163,000). This is five times an average wedding in Britain.
- It cost a fortune, but I`ve always wanted a big wedding and my dad has been saving for ages to pay for it – Missy said.
The wedding dress alone cost 16,000 pounds ($26,000). It was covered in Swarovski crystals and looked like a short tank top and a skirt. Missy also wore a large tiara and a 500-pound ($815) bouquet.

Kuala Lumpur - A Malaysian man attacked his wife with a machete and threatened to shoot her after she failed to deliver a marriage proposal on his behalf to his new love, a news report said Tuesday.
The man, 57, sent his wife, 60, to visit the grandmother of his new love with the purpose of asking the younger woman for her hand in marriage, state deputy criminal investigations chief Mohamad Haris Daud told the Bernama news agency.
The man was waiting anxiously in their home in the central state of Pahang late on Monday when his wife returned without conveying his proposal to wed the other woman, who was already married to another man, Mohamad Haris was quoted as saying.
The suspect was believed to have flown into a rage and attacked his wife, the investigator said.
"Grabbing a shotgun and a parang, he threatened to shoot his wife and slit her throat," he said. "The frightened victim escaped and headed to one of their children's homes nearby before lodging a police report."
Police have remanded the man for questioning.
Wedding Ring, Prosthetic Leg Found on Roller Coaster

The Corkscrew rollercoaster at Alton Towers in 
Staffordshire is being taken down after 28 years. Staff at the theme park have just started a clear-up to prepare for the closure and were surprised to find a prosthetic leg and a diamond-studded wedding ring, as well as 12 St Christopher crosses. It is not clear whether the leg became detached during the ride or was simply left behind by a forgetful ride-goer.
It is not the first prosthetic item to be left on the Corkscrew - a prosthetic ear has been discovered in the past. Other items found on the rollercoaster site during its history have included 800 pieces of jewellery, 53 shoes, none of which match, 604 watches, 237 mobile phones, 10 items of underwear and thousands of caps.
Russell Barnes, Divisional Director at Alton Towers, said: "As the Corkscrew is the oldest rollercoaster in the Park, we were expecting to find some strange items when we started clearing the Corkscrew area but a prosthetic leg definitely tops the list as the most bizarre. If anyone has any information on the missing leg, we would be keen to hear from them."

It seems that there is someone for everyone, as proven by Manuel Uribe, the world's heaviest 
man alive.
In an article posted on the BBC News website, Uribe said; "I'm very happy this is a really special day for me. God has permitted this day to arrive and for a beautiful woman like Claudia to marry me. We will start a new adventure together."
Here's an excerpt from the article:
Mr Uribe's custom-made bed was decorated with a canopy, flowers and gold-trimmed bows at it was towed by a truck through the streets of Monterrey to a local hall for the civil service, the Associated Press news agency reported. 
He wore a white silk shirt and a sheet wrapped around his legs, while his bride wore a strapless ivory dress and tiara.
Instead of a first dance, the pair are reported to have sat together, holding hands and swaying to the song.
Mr Uribe's mother, Orquedia Garza, said her son had steered clear of the five-tiered wedding cake - a vow he made when he announced his engagement at the start of the month.
"He didn't break his diet," she told the AP. "His doctors are here and they are watching him closely."
Manuel Uribe, a former mechanic, entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world's heaviest man when he weighed 560kg - the weight of a small truck.

In a horrific turn of events, due to mass confusion leading up to the cake cutting ceremony, a local Memphis groom "accidentally" stuck a knife in his bride, as opposed to the identical looking wedding cake behind him.
"I turned around and, everyone was cheering, and I guess I got caught up in the moment and forgot myself," said the 34 year old groom, "One minute she was standing beside me, the next, I had a knife in her."
Paramedics quickly rushed to the scene and began to control the bleeding, Luckily the groom stopped cutting after he realized that "It wasn't strawberry filling".
Thankfully, for the cake, the Kebler Elves were also on hand, to rebuild the imposter bride, as the real one came crashing down on the dessert, moments after having a knife inserted into her stomach.
No charges have been filed against the groom at this point.
Japanese Groom Sets Hotel on Fire to Avoid Wedding

A Japanese man has started a fire in a hotel where he was supposed to have got married over the weekend, to avoid his nuptial commitment, Japanese newspapers report on Monday. 
Tatsuhiko Kawata (39) and his girlfriend were finalising preparations for their wedding, despite the fact he was already married, the Yomiuri daily writes.
- I thought if I set a fire I wouldn't have to go through with the wedding – he told the police.
Hotel guests were evacuated on Sunday morning and nobody was injured in the Yamanashi county, West of Tokyo.
Kawata was arrested after the fire when he suddenly cancelled the wedding, which was supposed to have been attended by 80 guests.

Twenty-two-year-old Gina Weeks’ water broke the morning of her sister’s wedding, but doctors told her she had enough time to watch the ceremony.
